The Smile Epidemic

Our mission is to create "The Happiest Community on Earth", a digital place of effortless belonging where people can safely share what makes them happy and discover what makes others happy. Essentially we are a: Social Digital Gratitude Journal :) We ask people to be mindful of the simple things in life that bring us happiness and believe that taking note of what makes you smile for 30 days can change the way you look at the world. Please share something Step 1 - Take note of something that made you smile. Step 2 - Take a picture of yourself with the note in front of your smile. Step 3 – Share it with us and the world :) NOTE: Look for the submit button on the bottom right hand corner of your screen or email it to us at: Creative Commons License

Day 13: meeting with Novella Photography

We are very honored to continue toattract new wonderful people to The Smile Epidemic project…

Last year a few dear friends and I decided to record our journey in a foreign land in a set of 27 themed photos depicting the life we are leading. I called it Project Capture; capturing the little moments in our lives as we stumble along; seeing the similarities and differences we faced, the…

A really wonderful post from a new follower….

A wonderful Blog Post from our Friend at  One For The Wall Photography

A wee note tonight…
A special friend of mine from university that I have recently re-connected with is doing wonderful things in this world. She and her husband are founders of The Smile Epidemic. The initiative was launched earlier this year and is spreading quickly across the globe (it has been recognized by the Oprah Network!). Their messaging to find the positive in life and to share that with a smile is infectious. Since joining their page and following them on twitter

I have to admit that I have found myself thinking throughout the day of all the people, experiences and things that make me smile. A friend of mine brought me flowers a couple of days ago. A complete surprise…that made me smile.
I have introduced our girls to the page as well and we are working on our our smile messages (we will share those soon!).
As I was preparing blogposts tonight I saw this sweet photo and thought it would be perfect for this note. In some ways I am in the business of smiles. It’s not something I had thought about until recently but I am thankful that I am more aware of just how many things make me smile in a day or that I might just have put a smile on someone else’s face.
Thank you Jim and Jennifer for contributing so positively to this world.
Much love and many SMILES!

Hi Gang,

Thank you so much for signing up for the “30 days of Gratitude and Happiness Challenge”. Oprah actually started up the same concept #30daysofhappiness so we are going to support her effort as well!

Here are some simple instructions and you can do them more or less to your own…

Here is the first and largest group Smile Epidemic photo yet. Taken at the first ever Moss family and friends picnic which was filled with smiles all day long!

Print off the “official smile” and bring it to your next group function and teach, talk about and snap a picture of what makes your group smile :)

Our new friend K2 is smiling about the new Dear Photograph book by our friend @tj

Jenny loves to be in the classroom with the kids, donating her time and being as involved in their lives and their learning as she can be. “Spending time in my kids classroom makes me smile”. What makes you smile?

Our wonderful neighbour Janelle, a local mom and early educator, says that “her wonderful neighbours” make her smile. We love you too and thanks for sharing ;)

This is Colt who works for Chorus Entertainment and was recently very involved in the shooting of a new Doc TV series to be aired on the Oprah Winfrey Network. Colt said it was a life changing experience and that “having worked on this OWN project will make him smile for a long time” Thanks for having us Colt can’t wait to see the final product.

What made you smile today?

We held a garage sale this weekend and it got rained out on Saturday so we plugged away and held a second day trying our hardest to raise some money for the Waterloo Regional Down Syndrome Society. It was hard and long but rewarding and we raised some good money. We smiled many times and I am proud of us and the lessons we taught to our children this weekend. Doing good things for other people makes me smile! What makes you smile?
